Brief Overview
Once you have turned on your Patient Portal and configured your settings, you can start inviting your patients to register for the portal. If you have not yet activated your Patient Portal, you can find instructions detailing the process to do this here.
The Short Version
- Enable the Patient Portal and configure your Patient Portal Settings.
- When adding a new patient from the appointment booking screen toggle on Send Patient Portal Access via SMS or Email and click Save.
- Invite existing patients to join the portal from the demographic window using the Send Patient Portal Access via Email option and click Save.
- The patient will then receive an email with an invitation to register for the portal.
- The patient must follow the link to set a password.
- The patient will then be able to log into the Patient Portal.
Instructions
Inviting a New Patient to the Patient Portal
- Open the appointment booking window and click the New Patient button.

Enter the patient's details, including a mobile phone number and email address into the fields provided.

Toggle on the Send Patient Portal Access via Email option.
A) If the patient has a carer or parent that will be looking after their account, toggle on the Give patient portal access to someone other than the patient option.
B) Add the carer or parent's information into the fields provided.
- Click Save.
- The patient will be sent an invitation link to their email address, and an SMS advising them they have received an email.
- The patient must then click or tap on their link received via email, and set a password to finish the registration process. For more information on what this process looks like from the patient's perspective, please review this article.
Inviting an Existing Patient to the Patient Portal
- Open the Patients list.
- Search for the patient.
- Click on the patient's name to open their demographic window.

Turn the Send Patient Portal Access via Email toggle to the on position.
- The patient will be sent an invitation link to their email address, and an SMS to notify them of the email.
