[COMING SOON] Stripe Account Setup - Individual/Sole Trader

Brief Overview

To start taking Online Payments in the Patient Portal, you will need to create a Stripe Account for the received money to be deposited into.  This article explains how to create a Stripe Account for a business registered as an Individual or Sole Trader.  

Creating a Stripe Account takes approximately 10 minutes to complete if you have all the information to hand.  This article explains the definition of terms used in this process.  

Important: 

  • If, for Stripe Account setup purposes, your business is registered as an Individual/Sole Trader please use this guide. 
  • As soon as you have activated your Stripe Account, patients will be able to pay their invoices on the Patient Portal
  • A Stripe Account can only be linked to one bank account, but you can have multiple Stripe Accounts that can be linked to different bank accounts. 

 

The Short Version

  • Go to Settings > Patient Portal Settings > Portal Payments tab.
  • Toggle on the Switch ON Stripe Payment option.
  • Click Create and use the Stripe Account Setup Wizard to complete your details.
  • Monitor the Dashboard Status in the Portal Payments tab.
  • Once the status is Verified click Activate, then Confirm Activation.
  • Your account is now active and able to receive payments.  

Important: 

  • The first Stripe Account you create will be the default account for all current and new users. 
  • If you need to create multiple Stripe Accounts, then: 
    1. Create each account
    2. Assign each provider to their Stripe Account
    3. Activate all Stripe Accounts

 

Instructions

1. Go to Settings > Patient Portal Settings.

2. Go to the Portal Payments tab.  
Note: If required, toggle on the Switch ON Stripe Payment option.

4. Read the Terms and Conditions, click Accept to continue or Close to cancel.

5.  Create your Stripe Account
Note: For assistance with the wizard, see the definitions supplementary article.

INITIAL DETAILS
The details you are required to complete in this section are:
- Country of Business
- Business Entity Type
   * Choose Individual/Sole Trader
- Mobile Number
- Email 
Click Next

Enter the verification code sent to the mobile number added in the previous window.

PERSONAL DETAILS
The details you are required to complete in this section are:
- Legal name of person
- Email address
- Date of birth
- Home address
- Phone number
Click Next

BUSINESS DETAILS
The details you are required to complete in this section are:
- Industry
- Business Website/Product Information
Click Next

PAYOUT DETAILS
Note: Review the Direct Debit Request Service Agreement, located at the bottom of the screen.  The link will open in a new tab and will not disrupt the account creation process.  

The details you are required to complete in this section are:
- BSB Number
- Account Number
- Confirm Account Number
Click Save

VERIFICATION SUMMARY & CONFIRM DETAILS
Note: Review the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, located at the bottom of the screen.  The link will open in a new tab and will not disrupt the account creation process.  

Review your information on this screen and update if required:
- Click Pencil Icon to review Business Details
- Click Update to review Management & Ownership
- Click Pencil Icon to review Payout Details
Click Done

You will be returned to the Patient Portal Settings tabs.  Click Portal Payments tab.

 

6. If you need to make more than one Stripe Account (for multiple bank accounts), please review this article for additional instructions before continuing to Step 7. 
7. Once your Stripe Account Status shows that it has been verified, click Activate
 
Important:  Activating your accounts makes them immediately available to patients in the portal to start paying their outstanding invoices.
